Living Here

Our residents are civically-minded, ethnically diverse and span across generations. The West End is a historic and aesthetically pleasing neighborhood, which generates an inherent sense of hometown pride! Nicely paved sidewalks, tree-lined streets, access to city parks, availability of local produce and an annual 5K through its streets, the West End promotes a healthy lifestyle for those who are up for it! Daily walks with the dog, a stroller, or your neighbor are simply a part of the culture.

With a number of specialty retailers at its core along 19th Street, a dozen restaurants and pubs within its boundaries, its own movie theatre and performance spaces, the District attracts many visitors looking for enriching experiences in the Lehigh Valley. Those who live here tend to shop and dine locally whenever possible. The West End is also fortunate to include Muhlenberg College as new, young talent move in every year and enhance the fabric of the neighborhood.

Multiple times a season, the community rallies around large, community-wide events such as the St. Patrick’s Day 5K & Parade, Mayfair, The Great Allentown Fair, West End World of Food Festival, Allentown Artsfest, and the beloved production of A Christmas Carol. Ag Hall at the Allentown Fairground also hosts annual trade shows featuring antiques, firearms, pets, arts and crafts, agriculture, holistic practices and consignment sales that keep the Valley entertained almost every weekend of the year. These special occasions help make the West End an enjoyable place to live!

Allentown’s story is rooted in Pennsylvania’s deep history of agriculture, industry and retail. The West End contributes to that story in a style of living that reflects the values of a group dedicated to city living and passionate about sustainable urban development, education, community service, wellness, gardening, and the environment. You are welcome any time!
