Geography and Scope

A commercial and residential section of Allentown, Pennsylvania, The West End Theatre District is located less than 90 miles west of New York City and 50 miles north of Philadelphia. Allentown is Pennsylvania’s third-largest city and one of the fastest growing regions in the United States. Home to approximately 5,000 residents and 160 businesses, the District attracts national bank chains, boutique-style artisans and merchants, restaurants with international cuisine and local farm stands.

The West End Theatre District is a focal point of what unites many unique areas in the Lehigh Valley. Its main strip of 19th Street is a convenient throughway connecting residents between the growing downtown and heavily utilized public and private resources in South Whitehall Township.

Bordered by 17th, 22nd, Washington and Liberty Streets, its name reflects the four key cultural organizations that surround it: The Civic Theater of Allentown’s 19th Street Theatre and Theatre 514, the Theatre & Dance Mainstage at Muhlenberg College on Chew Street, and the Pines Dinner Theater on 17th Street.
